Sylvia Stone book
This project is a collection of writing and images having to do with the artist Sylvia Stone. She was a sculptor who created large-scale environmental sculptures in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. For the content, I transcribed an interview of Stone conducted by Karl Fortess.
At the time of the interview, she was very interested in using transparent materials, like acrylic. I wanted this book to reflect that interest by having lots of overlays and transparency throughout. The final printed book will have a few different transparent materials bound in.
This piece is my main inspiration for the design of the book.

The shapes throughout are taken from her pieces, layered on top of each other.
There’s a tight color palette throughout that ties back to the inspiration piece.
